When It's all said and done, you are only talking about a few quad lengths anyways on the fast quads. Nothing to lose to much sleep over. All quads have their advantages and disadvantages, you just have to pick the one that is right for you and go with it. The sand tends to mellow out alot of the HP differences in quads when drag racing. Uphill, it might be a different story, but unfortunately I don't live close enough to dunes that you can really race up for any distance.
Have I beat piped Raptors, banshees, DS650s, YFZs ??? The answer is YES....
Have I lost to piped Raptors, banshees, DS650s, YFZs ??? The answer is also YES.....
That's life, enjoy your quad and just appreciate that win or lose you have enough testicular fortitude to get out there and rap your motor up and haul @ss by the seat of your pants.

A lot of new talk about how fast a stock YFZ is, a piped raptor will pull away from a stock YFZ start to finish if any of the new dyno's are even close to being true. It would give the raptor a better power to weight ratio.

A Canadian friend [who works in a yamaha store] said that after a recent 6hour race involving six YFZs in his class, 5 of the six were in the dealership on Monday with smoked pistons and rods. hmmm. it included HIS. That could be a number of factors, of course, all NOT yamaha's responsibility, just like transmissions. hmmm.
So did ya get the brake recall update that no one EVER complained about? Idid. I dont see anything new. I dont feel any change either.
whatsup yamaha? you TRYING to lose loyal followers? hint: it's working.

Raptor8: very interesting. i now alot of YFZ owners who race Pro and amatuer classes for both GNC and GNCC including myself and have never heard that. However...i did have the high comp piston installed. and when i picked it up the Tech said my stock piston had signs of scoring from a cold start.
in my head...i was like. No way dude. not my quad. i warm her up nicely before i put her to work. plenty of foreplay . but it has been siiting in the back of my head...staring back like a 800lb Gorilla. i was warned the YFZ would require frequent re-builds. we'll see.
i would appreciate any links to conversations regarding this...
