Default Raptor Tranny Victim Needs Help

Shift forks bent causing damage to the engagement dogs. If you keep riding it like this the gear will eventually give. Once that happens, it will be a warranty item (engagement dog breaking off!)

So, you are better off riding it until it blows so Yamaha will replace it!

Default Raptor Tranny Victim Needs Help

Dealer is still lost, 2 techs think it is the tranny, two think electrical now, called service manager they are supposed to get back with me, called yamaha, reg. rep is supposed to get back with me also. Thought that I brought my quad in with plenty of time before first ride, but only 11 days till trip..... Trying to understand how it could be electrical to make it slip in all gears, They have had clutch apart and said all looks good in that dept. So if anyone has any suggestions.... Tech said something about a reverse limiter but I thought that the 2001 raptors did not have that installed, it was new in the 2002's.... Well Two weeks and counting..... Well The Dealer replaced axle with a dura blue, also replaced sprocket and rotor carrier, bearings, chain sprockets. cleaned up the play a little bit. Still slipping under load in second gear, Looked into electricial problems again, nothing found, Finally looking into transmission... probably second gear dog or shift fork. over a month and counting in the dealership. That sucks dude!

You should think about picking it up and doing it yourself, or have a smaller shop do it, they are usually more reliable, hungry for the work this time of year. I have the whole tranny kit for sale @ www.ripperracing.com, assembled or not.
