removed raptor air box lid and motor stummbles

I removed the air box cover while riding today to see if everyone was right about this. I could not drive the quad or even race it up at idle. it sounded like it was runing out of fuel. Is this air box that restricted that just by taking the lid off you need to rejet the carbs??? Some one help. Also, how do i reply to some one that answers a question for me, can't figure it out.

read the post called what will happen if i remove my lid. u have an increase of air, so u will need a bigger jet to get the gas air mixture right. to reply, hit reply at the bottom of ppl's posts.

ok i can see the point about keeping the lid on to keep out debris but if this machine is that under jetted with the cover removed i think i should jet to the point where it runs good with the cover off and then figure out how to keep that kind perfomance with the cover on. do you think the holes will be enough. should the holes be in the top of the cover?
