Default removed raptor air box lid and motor stummbles

I removed the air box cover while riding today to see if everyone was right about this. I could not drive the quad or even race it up at idle. it sounded like it was runing out of fuel. Is this air box that restricted that just by taking the lid off you need to rejet the carbs??? Some one help. Also, how do i reply to some one that answers a question for me, can't figure it out.

Simply hit the reply button at the bottom of your post... I am asking the same question... I know that you have to rejet it, but do you have a stock air filter?

filter doesnt really matter, just make sure its clean and there are no chuncks of dirt or anything in ur airbox, u gotta keep it clean in there with out the lid.

think about it, a quarter size hole for ait, to a 8X8in opening. its gonna be way tooo much air, just put bigger jets in, and ull be fine.u need more gas

Yamaha is bad about that you need to keep the lid on and drill holes in the lid only drill holes to allow 25% more air in it will do the trick

ok i can see the point about keeping the lid on to keep out debris but if this machine is that under jetted with the cover removed i think i should jet to the point where it runs good with the cover off and then figure out how to keep that kind perfomance with the cover on. do you think the holes will be enough. should the holes be in the top of the cover?
