YFZ stalls when i stab the throttle...
yup.. it does...
i got an HMF slipon, ESR intake and the cammod... running a 170MJ, 45PJ, NCVQ needle on the 5th clip down... it runs quite well right now... except when in neutral and i rev it it breaks up and slightly on top end it breaks up... the leaner i go the better it gets though... smallest MJ i have is a 170...
still dont know why it dies when i nail the gas from an idle... any ideas?
thanks fer the input...

ernie is that with the stock needle? i think its easier to jet with the stock needle... i might go back to it.
the plug is white... very white... but the leaner i go the better it runs... i am lost...
thanks for the info guys... ill try that leak jet thing i think, thanks man.
btw... central is a nice place... but you cant ask a question there w/o someone yelling at you for not searching first... buncha 12 y/o's over there...

well i moved the needle to the 4th clip... runs better... once again... the leaner the better...
and no, i havent dont a "real" plug test... i realize that it wont be completely right unless i run WFO and hit the switch... but i am atleast looking for some color on it... because as it is... its still pearl white... and i would think it would change some color...
i think if i drop to a 168 it will run great... but the plug being white scares me...

Hozed,
neutral is a very poor place to test jetting on the yfz. You need to jet while the machine is under a load, i.e., going through the gears. I always jet my quad way too rich, easier to tell a rich condition than a lean. Accel fast, and if it cuts out near the top while still under acell, you are rich. Just keep stepping the main down 1 jet at a time. With my LRD full system, I'm at a 170 main, NCVQ at 3 or 4, can't remember off hand, and 55 pilot, but that system needed a bigger pilot. The best way to jet is to just set your needle at either 3 or 4, then adjust your main and pilot around your needle!! And the best investment ever is the zip-tye fuel screw...great for quick adjustments!!

i do test it by driving it... it runs pretty good.. breaks up at top a little bit (the lower i go the better) and it sometimes pops and sputters when i let off the gas.... (which i thought ment lean...)
either way... my plug is still very white... but the jetting seems pretty close. and i would think that it would be black since i am running rich.
