My First ATV: YFZ450
#11
I remember the first day I picked up my Warrior.....First thing was first, I had to learn the clutch....now this is where I will show my age...I kept quiting...I would stall it then I would be mad and go in side then come out and try it again I was really mad and would just give up becuase I thought there was no hope of me learning a clutch...(I have matured since then).....then my brother got mad was determined for me to learn it....so in 30minutes...I was able to get the main motion down of taking off.....preventing it from stalling, starting out on hills, and stopping correctly....that was a different story but I learned how to prevent it and sop correct...and within a few few weeks I mastered stating out on hills....
I thought I was going to have to screw the throttle limiter in to prevent me from giving it too much throttle....but Never had too...I learned quickly....I would have to agree with you
Anyone that is big enough to reach everything (bars, footpegs, shifter, levers) then can ride anything as long as they take it slow...and don't do anything stupid..>Safety First<!

I started on smaller atv's and I think I'm a better rider because of it. Not to say that anyone who starts with something big won't eventually become a better rider. I just think that I am a better rider because of it.

Thanks for all the input guys - for sure, this has become the thing for me...the only probs are finding cool trails/dunes to ride....looks like I'm gonna have to move to somewhere good! Otherwise, I need to drive an hour and half to ride sand/dunes....but hell it's worth it.
Eventually I want to hit the mx track...when? who knows....maybe in a couple months - just to try it out.
Also, pipe and air filter are on the further-down-the-line shopping list.
Oh yeah, another prob cropped up since I started this - I haven't stopped my other sports, so some days Im at a loss which sport to do! Like last week I rushed back from riding the dunes (so drove 1.5 hours) to go kiteboarding, since the wind forecast was strong. Turned out there was no wind, I felt like kicking myself for having stopped riding!

I can see the logic behind getting a mean quad from the get-go. It's just like warrior387 pretty much said, you control the danger with your right thumb. You won't want another quad for a LONG time and when you eventually feel the need for, dare I say MORE speed: let the mods beginCongrats!
