Go with the Blaster, a 13 year old banshee could be problems, however you wouldn't have to worry about replacing brakes, suspension or pipe on the Blaster. Note a 280 Blaster will probably develop heating problems however. No one can make up your mind both are nice bikes, I just think newer is better.

I really dont think its a 280 blaster. who did the motor work? how much did he pay for it. what year is it? does it have hydrolic brakes? its probebly just bored over and the guys thinks .080 makes it into a 280.

Actually i will beg to differ, given the banshee has survived 13 years already says something for it, I would however be wary that failures such as ball joints and bearings could fail. I have a friend who has an 87 and after the Ball joints started failing he replaced the J arms with A arms and its just as good (actually better) as his 99 banshee.

With the blaster, thats quite a big bore and the engine will suffer greatly due to the High heat and lack of water cooling. The other thing is given that it is an expensive kit to build a 280 blaster it will be fairly hard and expensive for finding replacement parts for the 280 setup.

Just check the frames, axles, wheel bearings etc. and i suppose the rest is just up to a matter of opinion.

Paul Turner Racing builds a 280 kit for the Blaster. It's said to leave some 250's in the dust.

i'm pretty sure J arm to A-Arm is a weld in kit.

As for the blaster 280. I wouldn't buy it. 240s already run hot! i can't imagine how a 280 would run..
