Default 2 stroke knock

Would an improper plug make a Blaster motor have a knocking sound? I got the wrong plug from the Yami dealer (same plug/ except no resistor). When I installed it it ran with a loud knock. Changed back to the old one, no knock? Huh?

Sounds like detonation. did you increase compression?
