When you drag race how do you start. I start in second sit up almost on the gas tank and punch it and let the clutch go (I play in sand). I've seen others that stand up and lean forward. How do get the wheels spinning, dirt or sand?

I start in second also. Don't have to lean forward at all because of the +4. Second is pretty short so Im on the clutch and hit thrid pretty fast.

I pull out in as high of a gear as I can without loosing wheelspin. Wheelspin is key unless you have a drag set-up (wheelie bar and strutted). I get pulled out and immediately start moving my weight too the rear of the quad, applying more weight on the rear tires, allowing more hookup. You really have too know your engines characteristics so you will know when too slide back faster or slower. The front end should be about 1.5-2' in the air for best weight transfer on the rear tires. I pull out in 3rd and I will usually let the front end sit down mid-way through 4th. Thats with 12/42 gearing /w 20" rears. P.S. With a stage 1 Hot Cam or less I do not recommend gearing the Raptor down....it slows it down. The larger cams do not make as much low end torque and gearing has too compensate.

Until I got an extemded swingarm, I couldn't start without almost flipping over. I start in 2nd with stock gearing and fairly meaty paddles. With my stage 1 cam and fcr's its got a lot of meat on the bottom and I just give it a lot of throttle and feather clutch slightly, but i basically dump it. I sit fairly neutral, maybe a touch forward, then sit back when I get moving, I think the key is to start in 2nd, not 1st.

Even with the stock length swingarm you still should be able too generate wheelspin unless on asphalt. You may have too stand up and lean over the bars but it can be done. If you are geared down too much the front end may wanna come up more since the tires are turning slower and you are multiplying more torque. Gearing and technique can win or loose races.
