Default Severity of 01' raptor tranny problem

One more thing, I read somewhere that sometime in the production of the 01' raptor they fixed the tranny problem. Has anyone heard this and if so any ideas of where they changed VIN# wise???????

The differance in cost to upgrade to an 02 gearset is very little (maybe $200) especially when you think about having to buy another 01 gear set when the one you just put in breaks again.

Time depends on your skill as a mech and following instructions at www.raptortranny.com. Its a little time consuming, but not difficult with that web site.

Did it myself, raptortranny.com. All the info. I paid in New Zealand dollars. Big bucks. Do it now. Consequential damage can be exy!

This is my opinion as well. Suquential damage could lunch the entire engine....unlikely but certainly possible. Another possibility is the tranny locking up and throwing the rider over the bars. Yamaha really screwed up making no changes too the overseas street bike tranny.
