I know the dip stick but like on My Z 400 you have to start it and let it idle for 5 min, and then shut it off and let it sit for 3 min and then check it with out screwing th edip stick in? how is the raptor checked? thanks

Start it up and run it for a couple minutes to get the oil warm so it flows better. Drain the oil from the main drain plug on the left lower side of the engine. Drain the oil from the plug on the bottom of the oil tank. Take off the oil filter and let the oil drain from that area too. Put all the plugs back in and put a new oil filter on. Make sure to put a little fresh oil on the filter gasket area. Take out the dipstick. Put in about 1.5 - 1.75 quarts of oil. I fill it until the oil gets just to the top of dipstick hole. Put the dipstick in and start it up. Rev it a couple times to get the oil pump going, let it idle till it is warmed up to normal operating temp. Shut it off and let is set for 5 minutes. Check the oil level on the dipstick (without screwing it in). It will either be so low that nothing shows up, or it will be just at the bottom of the dipstick. Add enough oil to get it to the full mark on the dipstick. Check it often as you add the last bit of oil because the oil tank fills up quick.
For me it usually takes a little over 2 quarts. Maybe 2.2 or so. 2 quarts will get you close, especially if you don't drain all the oil out well or don't change the filter.
Good Luck!
