doo800,
i had a 2000 formula 600 last winter it was a great sled but i came up over a little nole in the trail and had a head on with a indy 500 it did $8600.00 worth of damage's to my brand new sled with just under 500 mile's on it (totaled)both sled's bulkhead's were completely spent.that 800 you ordered will be a rocket i hope the gas price's go down sledding is very exspensive .the only part of ski-dooing i don't like is that it make's my wheeler feel like it is hitched to a tree.

Grizzzzzz, out here in the sierra/nevadas its long tracks and big hp that takes you to the real riding areas. My wife and I tackle this chore on a 2000 summit 700 highmark (151") and a snowchecked 2001 Polaris 800 rmk (144").These sleds put out between 125 hp to 135 hp out of the box. We love our quads, but like the prior post we would rather get cold than dirty! Happy Trails RJ (Powderhound)

This past winter I got bit the snowmobile bug, but it was only a small bite.

Driving home from breakfast one Sunday morning, I saw a snowmobile for sale in a guys yard. I stopped, got the number and called him.

Went to the ATM and took out $600. The snowmobile ran, but not very good. I talked him down to $500 cash. It is an 84 V-max.

I took it out that afternoon. Mind you my backyard was full of snowmobiles, since the snow covered pits is directly through my yard. There was everything from new Polaris to old junks like mine. I went out and was impressed with the power. Then my wife and son took it out. I guess they fouled the plugs pretty good, because when my wife and I went to go out riding after lunch, it ran like crap. So I changed the plugs and went to try and start it. The pull started broke! So it just sat in the yard until spring. Then I towed ot the in-laws house where it has been since. So I spent $500 for two quick rides!

This fall I will replace the pull starter and give it a tune up.

Are the old v-max's any good?

I ride a '00 srx 700 all over michigan, and at least once a year up to canada (any of you guys from michigan that have not ridden in canada don't konw what your missing...unbelivable trails compared to the UP, and no people, and lots of snow) It is my opinion that overall, the srx is the fastest sled out there. On a trail there is absolutely no comparison or equal, and even on the lakes, unless it is a really long race, there isn't much that is going to get pass 'em. Ours dynoed at 147 hp, whats up with all of those new 800's that are only making 130 hp?? We've been grass drag racing in michigan for the past 3 years...and there is nothing like the acceleration of a sled on a clay starting line (and i ride a banshee that runs in the mid 4's in 300') We run 500' in about 5.8, and the best guys can drop down into the 5.6's. That is a stock sled. Some of the prostockers like the 1000cc can run in the high 4's in 500' - thats flying.

a very good site to check out is www.amsnow.com

I have a '96 Polaris xcr440 tunnel with a '98 xc700 motor, Erlandson long travel Fox front shocks, M-10 rear suspension, plastic ski's, 196 studs, modified stock exhaust, reinforced tunnel(after bending a few stock ones upon landing), carbon tech reeds, heavier drive chain and sprockets, Northstar hood and nose cone, '96? Ultra seat, and i'm sure i'm forgetting a few things. I built this sled myself from the ground up and wouldn't recommend doing this. I just did it because I like doing that kind of stuff. It does make for an awesome trail sled/motocross type sled. We haven't had much snow here in Central MN for 3 years now.....Maybe next winter!

Besides my 2 banshees, I have a 95 XCR 600. We have some of the best snowmobiling trails here in Canada, so you might as well enjoy them

Besides the two Hondas (450 and 350) I have a Formula 500 for trail driving and a MXZ 600 for drag racing. I have been snowmobiling for years and just started atving a year ago. If I had to give up one sport it would be the snowmobiles. The trail driving wouildn't be so bad but it would hurt to give up the racing. However, it would be atving for me.

BTW The 1000 Cat is the fastest but the Mach Z is the quickest (box stock).

MXZ,

Really??!! Mash Z faster than Thundercat???
That's surpise me! What about Polaris 800 triple?
Is the Polaris faster than Mash Z?? Well If Mash Z is faster than Thundercat and Polaris then I guess my next snowmobile will be Ski Doo Mash Z!
I am Arctic Cat and Ski Doo fans. I never seen Thundercat in action but I have seen 01 TC on the showroom. I would love to see 01 Mash Z.
Are Mash Z any good?? Anyone out there have it do you like it?

Thank you for your time.
