I have an 04' Black Wolverine and my engine is filthy. Not so much grease, just dust and dirt. Most of the cleaning solvents I found at the store say you shouldn't use them on painted products, which my engine is.

What is a good spray on hose off product that won't eat the black paint off the engine? I want this thing gleaming again!

I'm not sure what would be safe to use, but I would try some Purple or Simple green... something along those lines. It may help some. You can dilute it down and it isn't SUPPOSED to hurt paint and such. I would try to spray some straight on and let it sit for a few and then spray it off. If its been on there a while it may come down to good old elbow greese!

The thing is that if you get your quad dirty and then ride for a while without cleaning it (weeks or months) then the dirt will become baked on and is hard or imposible to get off. The best thing to do is to spray the engine off after each ride. The dirt is really easy come get off at that point and will save you some headache down the road.

Good luck!

Mike

Its good to keep the engin clean because if you get mud caked on then it keeps the engin running hot. The mud on the side of a air cooled engin retains heat. The best thing to do is try and keep the air running smooth on the fins and keep mud away. This isn't much of a problem on liquid cooled engins but even on those engins the air does keep the tempature down to a certian extent.
