I've read a report on the Cannondale dirtbike, which by the way has the same motor as the quad, and it said that the dirtbike was no where near as powerful as a YZ426F

ok, sure, maybe once the cannondale comes out it will be king for awhile, BUT there is still the greatest one to come yet... the Gas Gas! Theres no future in 2 strokes you say? well how about 50hp STOCK from only a 300cc engine, w/ powervalve technology, ohlins suspension, etc etc... This will surely be the king of the high performance market. With 6 or 4 speed trannys, swapable 250 or 300 cylinders, race ready chassis, you cant get much more trick than that for a stock quad (except for the Can's aluminum frame, gotta love that)This thing will eat your Raptors for lunch! uh oh, now ive started a war, hehe.

I dont know about the Raptor. But I have 3 grizzly,s that we use commercially at a game preserve all 3 have over 8000 miles on them. Yes thats right 8000!!! miles and we have never done anything more than routine maintenance and two belts. Do not even talk to me about Yamaha being inferior to honda. both company,s build a fine product. I suspect that you probably have a testostorone imbalance like most little boys.

Yeah, you gotta love that butt-ugly Jimmy Durante nose for plastic this Gas-Gas (as in flatulance)abortion-for-a-quad has. Oh yeah! sign me up...NOT!!! I predict it will suck big time when it is released. Anyone want to talk about first-year bugs on this one? How about all that good dealer support? Can't imagine anyone brave enough to go out on a limb and buy this thing.

Are you sure that they didn't mean that the bore and stroke was square or overly square? It just a way of saying that the stroke lenght is about the same length as the bore (& piston) is wide.

Didn't Honda come out with a racing bike a few years back that had rectangle shaped pistons? They were rounded on the corners of coarse, but it allowed them to have 8 valves per cylinder. I don't know what ever come of it.

Bash,
Yes Honda did come out with that oval shaped piston on there 250 Super bike, race only I believe. Although I remember it be pretty revolutionary, I seem to recall that it was very hard to keep running right. I think it lasted for 1 -2 years... Other than that, Im not sure what, if any, development has gone into this design since...
