Default Is this normal?? Raptor vs. Banshee

Okay, I bought my 2003 Raptor and added the proflow kit with no lid, rejett 146/148 for Salt Lake City, and added a full Yoshi exhaust. My friend just bought like a 4 year old Banshee with pipes. We went out to an offroad area to play around. We found a nice smooth straight away and decided to see who was faster.

The first race was about 100 yards. we did a rolling start (so that driver experience was more equal) and I kicked the crap out of him. He wasn't a nose behind or a couple lengths, he was far far behind. I thought that he missed a shift or something. He said towards the end he started gaining. Well sorry, I had such a lead that even if he were gaining it would take quite a while for him to catch up.

We raced 3 more times with even further distances with the same result time after time. He has much more experience riding ATV's, but as far as me on my Raptor and him on his Banshee we have the same experience. My Raptor would just pull super hard from the get go and he just couldn't catch up... ever.

So, do you guys think that the results were due to him not having after market air filter and jetting? Due to the shorter lengths of the race? I thought Banshees were the King and I my ego was fully prepared for him to beat me, or for me to edge him out... When I smoked him it made me happy, yet confused. I'm going to Little Sahara in Utah this coming weekend and I'll play with some more Banshees and Raptors to see where I stand.... What should I be expecting?

Well...there are too many factors to determine if that is the correct outcome or not...I think the banshee would do better with proper pipes and jetting.
If you look at my picture page..I have both quads in question. My banshee is faster than the pictured raptor. But the banshee is worked and the raptor is stock for the most part.

I say just have fun...but I do agree with the guy above. I would expect to see the rear end of a banshee once in a while.

You guys should be about even. I've noticed that Shees with the same mods as a Raptor usually are a very close race. Your friends shee might need a new top end.

When you get to the dunes, you will find your buddies banshee probably need a new top end. Race some banshee's up the mountain and you will see. When my raptor was just piped, I seen alot of back ends of banshees.

I donno why you guys say shees and rappys with pipe, filter, rejet that they lose to banshees. When my rappy was at that point I had no problem with banshees with minor mods like that, it was about dead even or whoever got the holeshot, on the hills or flats.

I have a piped/jetted Raptor and it runs properly for what it is. At the dunes in Idaho when you start running up the big ones the piped banshees hand my head to me. And that's not just me, it's pretty common. On the flats maybe it's different, but up the big hills it's not even close.

I wouldnt get a big head over it.....put on a set of paddles and run em up the hill.....im gonna bet you'll see the back end of a shee more times than not.......aside from rider experience...the shee's can spin the hell outta the paddles while your lugging it towards the top.....its a two stroke thing

yeah there is to many factors. but if u raced on dirt u should smoke him on 100 feet. both piped and jetted is pretty close even on the dirt but on pavement banshee will have alot of advantage.

with ur piped rappy expect to see alot of banshees behinds. i know i have.
