Default battery terminal question/ kodiak

i lost one of the square nuts in the battery terminal and the negative cable was just hanging. i removed the battery and looked inside the compartment. i called the dealer and they said to go to any auto parts store. i checked everyone in town and no one had the square nut, they only carry hex nuts (for those of you who lose one in the future). any other ideas or do i have to drive 25 miles to the dealer for 1 small nut. this is so frustrating, i missed riding today because of this.

i also thought of using a smaller bolt with a nut but is this going to move around inside the terminal hole too much?

Purchase the right size metric hexnut that will mate with the factory bolt and grind it down on two sides until it fits inside of the battery terminal.

The thread size is 6 X 1.0mm - you might also find a local independant shop that has old batt's laying around and rob a nut from one of them - some brands use the square, some use a hex
