Raptor setup
#1
Hey I have a 2002 raptor .. with the stuff descirbed below in the sig. I have stock gearing right now and im looking for a differnt setup so some help would be appreciated.. what would be better. having a longer second gear or getting into third.... My problem is now I go and drag up sand mountain here in utah and I can get going and hit third but have to end up shifting down about 1/4 of the way up. and it pulls it in second as hard as it can. SO any suggestions on sproket setups would be appreciated should i go to a 14 tooth front or drop it? thanks in advance

1 down in the front is very close to 3 up in the back. and 142/144 dyno jets??? what altitude are you at? That is what i was running here in albuquerque at 5500 ft and all i had was a alien dmc full exhaust, K&N with no air box, degree key and dyno jet kit. you are probally to lean would be my guess

im at prob 4400 feet
u think im running lean?? i could be but i dont know ive been told that the 144 dyno is like a 15- mukini my tailpipe seems to stay pretty black i might try some differnt jets, the problem before was i thought i was way to rich cause the damn rev limiter kept kicking in and so i thought it was bogging but it seems to run fine ill do a plug check when i get some time one of these days and maybe try boosting the jets a bit.. what way on the needles makes it differnt>? i have dyno jet needles too does that change anything??

put the needels on the 3rd clip from the top, get some 25 pilot jets, turn your air fuel screw out 3 and a half turns and try 160/165 mains, but do some more mods to your air box, running with just no lid is not letting a ported head breath. drill a 1/4 inch hole just at the top of your filter through the face of you air boxand put a bolt there to hold the filter in place. then cut off the bottom back and sides of your airbox leaving only the mounting braces. make sure you have an outerwear for the K&N, this sounds scary but it will run way better. Once you decide you like the way it runs when it can breathe, go buy an aftermarket filter adapter if you are inclined to spend alot of money. but do what ever it takes to let that thing breathe, if not you wasted your money getting it ported.
