so what's faster a pre-91 or a 1991 and up?

whichever one is tuned in better...

(they are basically the same)

They changed the J arms in 91'. Don't forget that in 90' they put in 210 main insead of the 200 in the rest. As for the case porting thing, no way, they are all the same. Also, the 89' rear wheel hubs are bigger, then they went back to the smaller ones in 90'-on. Aside from these items, and the gearing change (which basically is nothing since they change both gears)they have been all the same for the last 13 years. Later

As for the case porting or sprockets this may account for magazines back in 89-90 giving banshee a higher top speed rating than they currently do. It used to be rated at 76-78 mph stock, now only 72-74.
