Hello all. I got two questions right now. First: I notice when I first started it(after sitting a day) it will smoke either out of the tip of the head, or the connection where the pipe and the silencer meet( I have a motofast 2-1 pipe). What is this?

Second: I need a repair manual..Clymer has nothing newer than a 94..I have a 96..what should I do?

Thanks,

Jason

I just bought a clymer for my 98 banshee. I ordered it through Amazon.com. It was easy and fast! As for the smoke ?????????????? head gasket???????????? just a guess. GOOD LUCK!

All the banshees are the same.. at least the 1990 and up are all the same.

87-89 had J arms instead of A arms and different stock gearing..

The clymer manual will have everything you need, the only spec I could never find is flywheel to pick up distance. (I guessed at it and still don't know.)

Just my $.02

Hey dude, how did you order the clymer for your specific year model? I don't see it asking that? It just says 87-99? Did I miss something? I want to order one too.

Thanks,

jason

did you read the last post or not rott? ALL BANSHEES ARE THE SAME!! That is why it says 87-99 the only change that was made was the j-arm/a-arm thing in 89 i think.

there is one more thing that was changed...Go down to your dealer and order a (stock)rear sprocket for an 89 banshee...then order one for a 96.....

different number of teeth.....

I argued with my dealer for a half an hour about that..... I was under the impression that the only thing that changed was the arms.... I guess I was wrong...or they are wrong. But the Microfiche for each model year shows different "stock" tooth counts on the sprockets.

I am also under the impression that the ealry banshees were slightly case ported. Is this true? They stopped because they wanted to slow it down some, that what I heard anyhow...

87-90 were J arms... 91 and up are A arms
The gearing changed as well.. went from a 13 front to a 14.. and dropped a tooth or 2 in the rear. (I think)

ALSO.. the rear hub size is different. it has a different bolt pattern on the early banshee. Don't know the model year it changed, but it might have been from the 90 to the 91s.
