Actually, if they change the gearing, I hope that they revise the gear ratios in the transmission itself.

If it has the power to pull a couple higher gears (as the magazine has stated), the thing to do would be to shorten the first gear and widen the ratios of the other 4 gears. This would allow it to have good pull on low end and still maintain a blistering pace on top.

My Yamaha dealer said he was getting 6 Raptors on his first shipment in early Sept. 3 White, 3 blue...Dont know how truthful it is, but thats what he said..

I thought I'd miss the sweet sound of a two-stroke, and I probably will, but if the Raptor sounds as good or better than this 400EX with a Big Gun, I'll be a happy camper.

I have heard the rumor about the sprocket change, dealer here in Tucson said you may be able to get both sprockets if you ask. I doubt that they can make a change to the tranny gears at this late date. Maybe for 2001.
