Any one know the valve clearance for a '99 Yamaha Big Bear? It's startin to make some noise, so I think it's time to adjust them. Can you also Explain the procedure for a Yamaha. I've adjusted them on Honda's. Is it any different? I know how to adjust valves but I heard people saying, that on some machines you gotta adjust exhaust valve on intake stroke, and vice versa. Thanks for the input.

Adam,
Yes, just like a Honda. Take out the spark plug, get the piston to TDC, on the compression stroke. Intake .002", exhaust .004" with a COLD engine.

Adam,
Right out of the shop manual:
intake: .0024-.0039
exhaust: .0063-.0079
with a COLD engine!!
I have found that the exhaust will still rattle at those specs.
