Default grizzly timming help fast please

I have a 1999 grizzly 600 and Im trying to adjust the timming. Heres what I have. The piston is at top valves closed and on the sprocket there are two dots. Im asuming that these marks must be lined up with where the valve cover meets the head. Now I need to find out what mark on the fly wheel to go by. It looks like this !___! ! Well I hope you get the point. Any ways there are two marks with a line conecting them and a little farther there is a single line. What mark do I use. These marks must be lined up and at the same time the mark on the fly wheel must also be lined up right? And is what I said about the marks on the sprocket right?

One more question, when at tdc should the valves be open or closed? Also what is the gap for the intake and the exhaust? Thanks

Alright heres the deal, cam lobes are down, Im at top dead center with the fly wheel lined up but the valves are open. Is this right then? Or does it have to be like you said and the valves have to be closed.
thanks
