Newbie...Wolverine questions
#31
hey rem I was just at the Richardson Motorsports picking up some parts. I looked at the Wolverine again and I just noticed something. That quad has about the same ground clearance on the rear axle as a Warrior.(or lack there of) I not complaining about the Warrior's clearance because it's a sports quad and isn't intended for mud. Personally I would have reservations concerning this. For example I don't want a 4x4 warrior. It wouldn't do me any good. When I want to go thru mud on the Warrior I have to get up some speed to push it thru. I'm not knocking the Wolv. but you need to measure your needs and at least consider what you gain from limited 4x4 capabilities might not be worth the cost of overall performance.

The bike itself in stock form is very good. My little brother is doing his up though. He is having a slightly oversized Wiseco piston put in, Some DECENT tires (not too big), SuperTrapp pipe, Jetting, New filter, cams, new rims a new top end and all that stuff......Me I have my hands full with my new incoming Raptor. Well shoot I guess my Wolverine will be sucking his dust for a while! =-) Ahhhh well wait till he feels the wrath of the Raptor. I'll let you guys know how his bike runs when he gets it all done up.

I go riding with a warrior all of the time and I have no problems with ground clearance where he does. I would how ever invest in some skid plate for the wolv. If you do a lot of mud riding watch the bearings Yamaha has a **** poor design on there seals. Another common problem is the axle bending but other than that a very good quad.

$4600 on a 2000 wolverine is a very good price! I own a 2000 wolverine and have done some mods to the motor and it will out run a worior through third gear with athority after third the taller gears of the worior cath up quick though. The wolverine is very reliable and a very nimble bike for a 4x4 buy it and enjoy you'll be glad you did.
