Default Ha, I think I found the best mechanic in the world

Im sure some of you have already read how I purchased the 52 dollar complete top end kit for my banshee on eBay a few days back(amazing deal). Well I took my cylinders to my mechanic (Art Miller, 70+ year old owner of Advanced Racing Technologies) and we asked him why only one piston would fry. He said it could be because the crank isnt true and it might let it some air or it has bad crank seals. So he tells us to bring the whole engine over. We bring it and I asked what kind of price Id be looking at (by this point, hes already done the honing) and he says for him to crack my case, look at my crank, put new seals in it, make it true on his laithe if it isnt, then reassemble my ENTIRE engine with the new top end kit for a whole 40 (YES FOURTY) dollars!! I nearly died when he said how cheap it was going to be. He just told me he loves and knows two strokes from the inside out and he loves working on them. In fact he had just built a drag quad with a 600cc Polaris snomo engine in it that he worked to push 150 hp and he set up a 50 shot of nitrous on it. The bike was featured in the letters to dirtwheels. It was ran it last weekend and it was running low 3's in the 300 foot dirt. If anyone has a two stroke and lives in Michigan, look up Art Miller in your phone book and get a hold of him quick. Until the day this man dies, he will be my mechanic.

Just thought Id share
-Nick

you are very lucky. me and my stepdad just put in crank seals in my banshee not to long ago. I would have gladly paid someone $40 to split the cases, put in the seals and put it all back together.

Hehe, I got a mechanic thats about the same. But only if he likes you and its something he wants to work on. Ask him how much to change all the bushings in your frame and he'll prolly say **** off. The guy is probably an old retired race motor builder like the guy I know. They do it because its fun to them.
