Just had the problem over the winter and it was very fustrating!! But I did find the problem and fixed it (myself). Yamaha uses universal spark plug boots. These are the kind that you cut 3/8" of the end of the wire and then jam the boot on effectively splicing the wire onto the boot. Although Yamaha offers theier version over the counter at the dealer...don't buy it it won't fix (the boot hits the head).....Buy the one for it OE ONLY from the dealer..it's only 23.00 dollars and it will work as long as the last one. P.S. you only get one shot at a ew boot, they mke the wire from the coil too short to ty more...If yours was aready done, ou'll have to replace the coil under the hool (80.00) and do the gnd wire at the same time (they get rusty)
The reason why you guys are getting mixed results after changing plugs is because your shaking the connection to the plug
