If what you are saying is that there is not a proven option for raptor big bore pistons, then I agree. Ross is new, wiseco just started making their 102mm, and je has had reliablility issues for many customers but not all obviously.

Just because you spend less money, doesnt mean the product is of less quality. Ferraris are extremely expensive, and have a notorious record for unreliability. Toyota midsize trucks and honda small cars are cheap, but are among the most reliable vehicles on the road. The factory 909 handlebars I purchased were about the same price as traditional renthals, but are twin walled and stronger. I understand you have your opinion, and I respect it. Just trying to make my own points along the way.

How about 4 times? 11:1 stock bore, 2-11:1 102mm bores, 12:1 102mm bore. In all fairness though, the stock bore gave me no problems until the rod broke and the 12:1 only has about 6 hours or so on it. Both my 11:1 102mm cracked along the intake reliefs and made a hole along that line.

Sorry to hear of your troubles Bubba.

Thats my point. JE has a track record of making some of the "best-of-the-best" pistons....all the way too top fuel funny cars making 1000's of HP from 8 cylinders. Does not mean they can make Raptor pistons. Does not mean Ross can either. I figure they will be fine though.

I do admit that I have not used a Wiseco piston in several years though.....because I had enough of the BS....but maybe they have updated their design. I doubt it. I understand price does not necessarily mean a worse product, but in my case and with my experience, Wiseco makes a 2nd rate piston and a cheap price. In pistons, you get what you pay for. Later gentlemen.

JE's worked until the raptors started making power. I have one in one of my raptors but would not recomend them for anyone else anymore. If you use one you better tear down once a year and check it.

Just a side note, Bob Craycraft went to having custom ROSS's made when JE would not make what he wanted after seeing a few failures firsthand. JE knows of the issues and they have tried to band aid them to work.

Weslico is junk even thru rose colored glasses. After having a few in my hands the trash can is the best place for them.

One thing for sure, when you decide to build a higher HP raptor( or anything else) you need to check everything out from time to time. If you run hard all year you should tear down and inspect in the off season. I think the weslico is the least finished piston of the 3. No way would i just drop 1 in from the box.

I haven't heard about even ONE failure from a wiseco piston, and your callin them junk. I'd say let the statistics tell you, if not one has broken or had reliability problems I'd say they are doin pretty good! You can't judge a piston on how it looks, thats no way to tell if it will be reliable or not! JE is more junk than wiseco is, that's forsure!

My family has put many different pistons in lots of bikes, trikes, quads, cars and trucks over the years. My uncle is a retired engine builder, my grandfather and other uncle are former asphalt racers, my father is a former trike and quad racer. I have been on bikes and quads through my life. None of us have had any design or quality related problems with any wiseco pistons to my knowledge. Its based upon recommendations from these people that I have one in my raptor now. I have seen them in two strokes and four and they have performed wonderfully. If others have had bad experiences with them, thats too bad. Not everyone will be happy with the same thing, and no manufacturer can be perfect. If it was, everyone would own the same brand of vehicle, watch tv provided from the same cable company, etc. Thats it, I'm done here.
