Default Another JE gone bad!

Well...my 12:1 JE offically has a hairline crack in it...I'd say it had about an hour left on it before it would of granaded. Luckily I wound up with a problem before this one so when the engine was tore apart it was noticed. It's very hard to see but it follows a crease on the top of the piston and is cracked all the way through. I'm planning on replacing it with an 11:1 Wiesco piston...I haven't heard much about them but I've never heard bad either and Ross pistons are backordered like mad. Anyone here usin one?

Sorry to here it. Monday mine went big; Wripped the wrist pin towers out and the wrist pin was still sitting in the rod when I took it down. I cant say it was JE'S fault cause I had lightnened my JE with some taken off of the wrist pin areas and holes drilled on both sides of the towers which definitely weakened the piston. All in all it could have been a lot worse as far as the damage; so this gives me an exscuse to do a littler more upgrading sooner than originally planned. Slim

I have been using a std bore wiseco 11:1 for 6 months now through a season of ice racing and plenty of drag races and it has held up perfectly. Sorry to hear about your JE.

JE and Wiseco are the same company. I have always considered Wiseco pistons a moto-to-moto then throw away piston....whereas a JE is top shelf material. What shocks me is JE makes pistons for 500+ HP (per cylinder) top fuel dragsters and cannot make one for a 50-60hp Raptor. I have had good success running their piston so far, but it's apparant JE has issues with reliability. I ran a 10.75/1 stock bore JE for almost 2 years. I have a 102mm 10.75/1 JE installed right now....

I'm doing an 11-1 for our Rappy later this year, and just from reading these forums I am very skeptical about the JE's. They been dropping like flies.

I think they're about $200.
I've been telling ya I lost faith in the JEs for a while now. But I won't say I told ya so.
Sorry to hear it bubba but it's a good thing you caught it now. I bet it was it cracked along the intake valve releifes.
