The Z/KFX is a good quad, no doubt about it. It's lighter feeling, better handling than the Raptor. It flies well, and that light weight will help you there. It's cheaper than the Raptor, but not that much cheaper....

The Raptor is a good all around quad, too. It is heavier, but only a little, It doesn't handle quite as well as the Z/KFX, but it still handles pretty darn well. It has tremendous power, torque, and it's drivability is outstanding because of it...

I was leaning towards the Z400, a couple of my friends have them, and I liked them alot. I did not ride a Raptor before I bought one, and I can tell you, I really feel I made the right choice.

If I had rode the Raptor after buyin the Z, I think I would have been bummed out. I feel the Z is good bike, but for me the extra power and plush ride of the Raptor is the way to go. I would hop on and ride the cr@p out of a Z/KFX anytime, but my money went down on the Raptor and I happily never looked back.

Even if your a beginner the power of the Raptor is by no means intimidating. Remember, it's all what you do with your right thumb, just like driving a car is all about what you do with your right foot. Control, is everything.

Having said that, I really love my Praire 700 even more.....I call it point and shoot, being automatic and all. Yeah the Raptor is way cool on the sand and a lot of the other riding I do, but the P700 can carry a bunch of stuff on it's racks, and go everywhere too ... etc.... and talk about a smooth ride........oh yeaeh, back to earth.....buy the Raptor....

well, i just feel that a z400 is a better bike to throw your leg over if you havent ridden in a while,,,,almost the power of a rap,,,,just easier to ride. (wider, lower, more stable)
A rappy is a demanding bike to handle and requires more rider input (narrower, taller, more power),,,to get the same result.

the first sport quad i've ever ridden was my raptor.. but i think since i made the switch from a 600 pound 4x4 the the raptor help with the tipsy problem.. i handle it the same way i did my rubicon, but it just works a lot better.. i can wheelie like nothing.. as long as it will stay on the rode.. the front wheels will stay up. it just has a slight veering problem.. don't know why.. tire pressure is the same.. alignment is right.. i've tried everything. my neighbor has a z400 and can't do crap for a wheelie.. i've never tried on his.. mainly cause the bars are bent and i wouldn't feel safe riding it.

I have both and I would go with the Z 400..It really is an excellent wheely machine and with a few aftermarket goodies on it...it would be a quick as a stock Raptor(only 7 hp shy of a Raptor)...I think it out handles my Raptor in the woods and it has no problem going to the dunes and up the hillsas well. The price tag is about the same but hay....ya wanna play----ya gotta pay.Amen
