raptor piston question
schmave - to answer your question on compression - both maddog and I run 11:1 with the hotcams stage 1 and it is a very nice powerband. Good low end torque, great top end. I think you would be happy with that. Whether you choose Wiseco or Ross.
I believe if you go to 12 or 12.5:1 you would be better off with a stage 2 cam.

My mechanic actually told me I could get away with 89 octane in the rap, but I'll stick with the 93 premium for those hot days and race situations. The premuim gas in MI is usually 93 octane and at sonoco its 94 so you can get away with running pump gas here where you would need a mix or race fuel elsewhere.

raptor piston question
Are quads like cars in that if you have a high flowing exhaust, the compression decreases a tad inside the chamber? It's funny how some people say that they are running 87 octane when others are saying with the same piston they have to erun 93 octane. Other than altitude differences, what could be causing this wide difference?

Beware, VP U4 is only 92 octane(motor). I ran U4 by mistake with my JE 12:1 686cc piston problem free. The guy I borrowed it from told me it was U2 which is 101 motor octane.... For the money, I would just run 92-93 octane pump gas with an 11:1 piston, regardless of mfg.
