I have a newfound respect for 686's now. I dont know why, but I do, and I want to race now! Just curious how much this whole thing has cost you, I might just have to talk my dad into this setup for his. Glad to hear how happy you are with the whole thing. Btw you're going to NEED those haulers. Had geckos myself and they were worse than stock tires for dunes. It was on my blaster though and I dont know if it just didnt have the power, I'm sure that had something to do with it.

Maybe they are built alittle different than the ones you have had problems with. We know Ross makes a good piston as well,Cp like wise.

My Trinity built still has the JE and running strong! So like Kenz says maybe some builders are doing different things!

Mark you ever going to put a note beside your sig on the race gas only 4.2 *note... ON NOS?

Just curious LOL

Later,
Mike

Raptorman- Don't you run NOS? ClaYTON does not run NOS does he?

Kens- We all know JE sells tons of pistons for the raptor. Failures are more widespread than you may believe. JE has even made changes a few times to address the issue. I also think that most that run a JE will be fine but why take a chance? I have talked to JE tech guys a few times. They change there minds on ring gap, bore clearence more than most women change shoes. How about helping the JE piston guys out and tell them how you install the JE pistons to assure that they will not fail?

JE is not the only piston mfg. that has changed there tooling there is always room for improvment.Cam guys do it also. What kind of failures would you like us to address?

One problem thats came up are cracks along the top of the piston. Most Raptors that I have heard about blowing rods have had a JE installed. Did the piston fail, lunching the rod is a big question. I have used a stock bore 10.75/1 JE for over a year and a half + a 102mm 10.75/1 JE for several months with no problems.
