This may sound a little dumb (comparing a snowmobile to a quad), but do you think a ZR600 could hang with a Banshee?

think about the contact patch of 2 rear tires. what 10" by maybe 2" contact with tires. compared to 2 ft by 3 ft or something along those lines for a sled?
the sled just puts the power to the ground alot better.

maybe a 660raptor verse a 350 sled would be more fair or even??

I took my 1980 Yamaha SRX 440 to a couple ATV grass/dirt drags. There wasn't a piped banshee that could come close.....but they weren't BUILT banshees by no means.

Can sleds race in sand? Maybe I will try it...what would it be bad on?

you can, but it will be very hard on the sled. first of all, it will be very hard on the track and the bearings because the sled isnt designed to keep sand from getting in everywear. secondly, the sled is designed to run in 32 degrees or less, so it may overheat in the summer if it runs to long

you would also need a better airfilter for the dust

I know the older carbed sleds like to burn pistons in warmer whether, but doesnt EFI eliminate that?

like i said before, a sled is designed to work in a cooler temp range. what this does, is alow for the sled to run a little more compression oand whatnot than in the summer. so in the summer it runs 2 hot and it therefor burns a piston

That is true to some extent...but a proper tune up will have that sled up and running for the summer in a heart beat.

Grass drags are held in the summer around here...and the sleds run just fine.

BTW...from seeing the grass drags every year for a while now...there is no banshee that can even think of keeping up. in 300ft. with a 600cc grass sled.
