I just bought my first Banshee and I have a few questions. 1. How long can I ride on a tank of gas? 2. Does it faul out plugs while trail riding very easily? 3. Would you suggest changing the front sprocket to one tooth higher for trail riding?

 

1. About 20 MPG Highway... Yea, I measured it... Less on trails, a heck of a lot less in sand.

2. No. My plugs are 1 year old now. I have done a fair amount of trail riding. Just be sure jetting is correct.

3. No. Maybe 1 tooth smaller if you won't be hitting any high speed stuff (65+ MPH). I run a 13T front sprocket and it helps make for the lack of low end grunt. Now, If I were going to be in a lot of wide open fire roads I would go 1 tooth higher; that would be fast. I'm pretty sure it would pull it OK. (Anybody tried that???)

4. Be safe and get to know your Banshee... It'll hurt you if you aren't careful and are a new rider or come from a much less powerful quad. Enjoy.

 

I can ride all day on a full tank of gas and i just got my banshee and i ride it slow on trails and some times just put around and i havent carboned any plugs yet.

I get about 1-2 hours on a tank full. I have never fouled a plug. I still have the stock ones in my bike after two years of riding. I think I will change them out this season because of wear to the electrode. I could go another season with them though. You should add 3-4 teeth on the rear sprocket. If you put a 13T on the front you reduce the amount of room the chain has to clear the swingarm. One thing about adding more teeth to the rear is it probably will not clear the stock skid.

 

Good point about the 13t sprocket clearing the swingarm. I put on a 13t and it wore out my roller on the swingarm after a few days. I now have a chain slider that Roostking turned me on to. Much better.

 

To answer your questions,
1. I've ridden mine for about 3 hours straight and never ran out of gas. Although it was real tight trail riding.

2. Never fouled a plug but I change it every so often, maybe it's just me but it seems to run better with a new plug.

3. I ride trails all the time, and I didn't change my sprocket. It does require a lot of shifting to keep it in the powerband.

 

Go to a larger rear sprocket and your going to need a new chain. The wear on the stock roller is going to happen anyhow, so you might as well do a 13T so you can get a better chain roller. The Cascade chain roller, in theory, is supposed to provide more traction by way of less chain movement while under acceleration.
