01 Raptor Starter making noise when turning over??
Sounds like the starter system on the raptor is completely different from the Warrior .. the warrior starter is always engaged, so that when it's not starting bike it's still spinning free. The problem I had with my starter recently was that the oil seal between the motor and engine allowed oil into the starter and fried the commutator. Luckily I was able to get the commutator rebuilt without having to replace the whole rotor. Just a couple of copper bars and some good soldering and I was ready to rumble again.
The symptom with mine was as if the battery was dying. It would lug over very slowly until it just stopped doing it all together.
Good luck with it!!

NL01, actually they are probably pretty similar. The Raptor's starter is always engauged as well. The part we are talking about (one way starter clutch) is what lets the starter stay engauged all the time without burning up. It is bolted to the back side of the flywheel and has a clutch style bearing that rides on the crank shaft.
