the oil injector does not mix the oil at one steady rate all the way through. At idle it mixes at 200:1 and at open throttle im pretty sure its below 20:1, i wanna say 14:1 but i might be wrong. so you can see that the injector is a lot safer way to go if your using the right kind of oil. if the oil injector wasnt reliable do you think yamaha would still be putting it on the blaster after 13 years, probably not. the ammount of oil injectors that have failed that it wasnt because of the owners fault is probably very slim

Give it a break 99fasterblaster...in case you haven't noticed from previous posts, EdSmith knows much more about Blasters than most people.

As for the injector:
I removed the gear from mine and premix. The main reason I did this is because I replaced the 26mm carb with a 34mm to compliment my port job. Unless you plan on replacing the carb, the injector seems work just fine.

Hey I have one Blaster with the injector and another without the injector, despite having more control of smoke with the pre mix biek i have not noticed any difference in performance between the two. As for reliability, I have to agree with Edsmith, I also have a 1985 Yamaha Tri- Moto 125 with an injector and it has yet to fail, I have redone the rings once about two years ago, but in 15 years, I think that is great. I sure hate that the I don't have an injector for my pre-mix bike, traveling on long trails with oil is a bummer.

Trenga isn't a great company to deal with. If their brake is any indication, they don't have a clue. I would take anything they say with a grain of salt.

99fasterblasters: Yes, my Blaster did break. It got pretty hot while on a long (3-4mile) hillclimb in second gear. The top piston ring broke and worked it's way between the piston and the bore. This had nothing to do with the oil injection, sorry. After installing a new piston and rings the bike runs fine.

As for the ammo box, I no longer use it. No, I'm not the sort of redneck you say I am.

99fasterblaster- did it ever occur to you that maybe they say bad stuff about the injector, becuase they make an oil injector block off kit? Think about it.

I took out the small gear that the white gear drives and that also works. Then I took off the tank and took out all the hoses and caped all the holes.
