The 690 I have now runs pretty sweet and have video from last 4th doing real good on the drag strip at Pismo beach. I have ran against YFZ's and 250r's and came out ahead on all but one YFZ on alky. Has some real good torque on this build. Had the (Carrillo)rod, piston and crank balanced as well.

Here are some price estimates, in order of importance. Pricing is assuming you do the teardown and assembly yourself:
1) porting head $300-$400
2) cam $110-$350 (higher price for "bigger" cams includes cost of springs)
3) high comp piston$120-$200
4) bore cylinder $30-$50
Then figure gaskets $30 each time you take the head off. $50 each time you take the head and cylinder off.
So for around $1000 you can gain 10-15 horses over a piped raptor. From low 40's up to mid 50's. That's about a 25% gain.
If you want to get really crazy get a high comp (12.5 or 14:1), a new Carillo rod, and a big cam and you may get up past 60HP. I don't really know how much a rod is and to have it installed. I haven't changed mine yet
These are just my opinions and estimated prices based on my unreliable memory. Good luck with your decision.

I got some video of 2001Raptor and me racing, we were swapping wins. He has a 14:1 Ross piston and did his own port work. That is pretty good for doing your own port work if you ask me cuz he was pretty fast!!!

Sorry about the two replies but i pressed the wrong button? Computers are new to me.
My 02 raptor had yoshi, kn no lid, bigger jets from new for about 18 months with no trouble at all (180hrs) then i upgraded to 100mm wiseco 11/1 and stage 1 hotcam which livend her up a bit.
Now i decided to go up to the 686 and it is a different bike altogether, the only way to go, yesterday i could wheelie in top gear which i could never do before, just have to get my jetting spot on.
I had her on the dyno before and was 44 hp so now i think i would be around the 55 mark at a guess!!
