once you have the bolt ons....pipe, filter, new jets...and you want to do some engine work....

what is the order of steps to build up the engine?

what are the basic engine mods and then the all out build up?

also how much will it cost? and what will be the hp increase?

That depends on where you want to end up, mild or wild.
It will cost alot more if you want to end up wild if you do it a little at a time. If you want mild I would start with a Ross 10.5:1 102mm piston, stage 1 cam and port and polish would be nice too. I wouldn't do to much without replacing the rod and balancing the crank, even the mild set up is a little dicey.

what would a new piston and cam accomplish?

and a new rod , balanced crank?

if I did the above 4 things, what would that result in performance wise and how much if I did it myself?

Have you raced anyone with engine mods as suggested above? If not, you will be surprised on the outcome from just a stock engine. The porting of the head makes a big difference as well. I wouldnt do the engine mods without the porting.

As for replacing the crank, look at my page and down on the bottom, you will see what happens if you dont change the stock rod.....

Hey RaptorOwner, Is the JTM extension on your bike now, or is it the other aftermarket swingarm?

Yes the JTM is on my 2004 Raptor. Actually next week when I get back from vacation I am pulling the skidplate off my JTM and sending it in to get a few more cut out.

Default guide to mod engine on raptor

for the next few weeks I will be trying to get my jettting down and my new arms/axle installed

meanwhile, I will be doing some research on some engine mods.

I definately want it done right the 1st time, and enjoy some fast rides without headaches

I would like to get 5-7 years out of this atv at the minimum..

It would be sweet if the raptor is still around in the future, so all my current mods might still fit

where can I get some indications of what these mods accomplish?

does a 686 kit go 90 mph?

a 727 kit go 100 mph?

how do these mods relate to performance in times or speed improvements?

Not really looking to spend 2-3K for 5mph or 1 sec off my 300 ft times, you know what I mean?
