For 63 hp you must have a lot more done to your machine than you have listed in your sig. Otherwise, MBRP is claiming some outrageous hp numbers

Nothing wrong with my 01. Never been in the shop for anything. Proper care will help a lot too. Here is my 2001 taken in Feb of this year. almost three years old in the pic.

Three years old and the stock tires don't even look half wore.

Is that the original tires or new replacements?

Na really I take it easy on this quad for the most part. Maybe 5 miles of pavement has been under this quad since I purchased it new. Mostly grassy fields blazing up to my parents and sisters house.

Some back dirt rode running but they are soft and loose.

I will put stock replacements back on when those are gone though just to look original. I am even contemplating putting the stock grab bar back on.

Your tires are only around half wore as well. How many hours do you have on your Raptor? 50-75? WHat I'm getting at is a lot of the 01 Raptor owners (that has not had troubles) do very little riding.

I do not know about him but mine has probally only been riden 2 hours since March. I have just completed my Masters Degree and have a few more honey dos around the house before I can get back to having fun not to mention our first child arriving in Jan. Of course my riding time got cut dramatically due to THIS. The bike has already had new tires

I asked my dealer how many bad 01 transmissions they had seen. They claimed that everyone they had fixed had a bent shift fork from the rider jumping and landing with their foot on the shifter (they even had an example on the counter). Their story was that if you bend the fork the dogs no longer make complete contact and will eventually round off and break. The 02’s and later also include an upgraded shift fork.

Don’t know how much truth is in this story….Bill

What is it with you and tire wear Gary?

In case you had forgotten, you posed me the same question once before, regarding the amount of riding time I put on my 01.

DC504,

As you can see, there are many of us here who do extreme amounts of riding on 01 trannies with no problems and a few that have had.

Everyone has done an excellent job of posting both sides of this issue without letting it get agressive. Very nice to see.
