Can anyone give me a reason why a good running bike will start to backfire all of a sudden. Only when I let off the throttle in gear ? ( new plug)

Sounds like a lean condition. What kind of filter are you running?

What kind of bike? Maybe it's time for a valve adjustment.

Just a stock filter HoundDog. Bike ran fine all winter. 99 Grizzly 600. Seems to be running worse in the warmer weather ?

Its a 99 Grizzly 600 fmf. Will valves cause backfire? I'm also noticing a little blue smoke with the throttle.

Yes...valves out of adjustment can cause a bit of smoke. Did you change the jetting for winter? It does show symptoms of being lean as well.

Does it clear up any if you run with a partial choke on?

I bought the bike in the winter so it was already jetted I think. I'll try with the choke on and see what happens..Thanks again.
