Default dB Testing

I recently borrowed a sound meter from the Physics department of East Central University in order to get some readings off several of our bikes. However, I am new to the acoustics world and I don't understand the difference in reading I get when switching between A and C calibration tones. Does anyone have enough experience with this to give me a clue as to what the difference in readings implies? Does it affect the resonance frequency?

Thanks,

~HoundDog

Default dB Testing

Now that I have been searching for this topic on the net for two weeks, I finally find the answer in an online meter manual. Turns out that the A-weighting is closest to the weighting of the human ear and is used for most checks of sounds being questioned due to human exposure. Frequency resonance is not altered by these settings.

Just in cas anyone was curious... but I guess I am the only one who cares right?

I know the c weighting is used for calibration of stereo equipment...
