This kid called me over to his house yesterday to check out his new z400 and to line the two 4 strokes up. We went riding for a while and we switched quads and everything. His Z felt like it had alot more Torque then what the Raptor does. There both Stock but my Raptor gots New Razer Tires on the back but his just felt like it had alot more down low. I asked him if he wanted to line the 2 up so he said yea but we have to be on pavement. So we switched quads again and we lined up. It was about 300ft if not a little further. Off the line they were pretty equal until the Raptor hit 2nd or 3rd it just was gone. It won by about 6 quad lengths everytime we raced. We even switched riders and it was ahead by 6 lengths at the end. We then did some Top End runs Side by Side and the Raptor looked like it had about 5 mph more on Top End to, I was just wondering because man that 400 felt alot more powerful, why is that?

 

The Raptor is one of the torquiest <--spelling sport quads you're going to find...Pipe and a jet will make a big difference....

 

I have noticed the same thing with the raptors, it is because the raptor is a lower reving engine. the Z-400 is a DOHC high revving engine. With the right rider, things wont turn out they way they did.Espeically with the Brand new 05 Z's . But stock for stock the raptor is going to have a better top end but the z will accelerate faster.

 

Well that Z didn't accel faster then the Raptor did. The Rap had more on both catagorys it just seemed the Z had more power then it did.

 

Let me ask you a question what happens when you race a predetor?

 

from what I've heard, the predator is faster than the Raptor...so the z400 might get smoked...but I'm not sure...

 

I have raced a couple Preds, My Buddy ( SuperBalls5778 ) has one. Me and him are very close but I have a little more Top End then he does. We Accel Just the Same on Pavement but on dirt I beat him pretty good. He just sits and spins alot more then me. I have raced a couple Pure Polaris Piped Preds and they arent all that much faster. I have beat one of them but It was a $hitty runner.

 

the gears are longer becuause there arent as many? just my guess...

nice warrior! mine is also an 87...it starts up faster than ANY of my other bikes...it was my first quad [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img] ha I have the t-4 pipe as well....good times

 

My experience is stock for stock Rappy will win, but with both piped and jetted right the Z will actually hang pretty close... This is in a 300ft dirt drag. My cousin was racing the wifes Z (She was at work) against a pred and the Z was piped and the Pred wasn't and he was beating the Pred. I have not raced a piped Pred against the Z (haven't seen any around here) but I have heard they will beat a piped Z. These are all just from my experiences at the track....
