Default Kodiak 450 Power?

I'm thinking about getting a kodiak 450 but I wonder what you guys think about the power of this machine. I'm not really concerned about going 60mph, but looking for good low end and mid range grunt. I don't know if this is the machine for me or spend the extra money and go with the grizz. Any opinions are greatly appreciated.

The Kodiak 450 has plenty of power. I've pulled some things w/ it I'm surprised it could even budge. The reliability is good, and the features it has are second to none.

This bike has plenty of power. Keep in mind it has a low range also.

the kodiak definatley does have some low end grunt and it is a good all around machine. if you not going to be doing any severe work it will be just perfect for you. but if it is going to be more of a work than a play machine the grizzly has alot more power for working, the grizly is also a blast to ride considering you can pull wheelies with a 600 pound machine.

I'v got my kodiak 450 up to 63 mph going downhill with a tail wind! I have also pulled out trucks that were stuck in mud holes, it's a solid machine

Default Kodiak 450 Power?

I have been using mine to haul in my moose camp and have had several 800 pound loads and I am impressed with how it did. Towing was done all in low gear range and the gas milage was terrible but it did the job without a hic-cup.

I can't say I have pulled any trucks out or that I would want to but I have pulled an 8 wheel Argo out of the bog, of course that was with the winch and not the quad. Hauled a cord of wood with it last weekend, not in one load but several over 2 days and the machine did not overheat or did I have any problems with it going up and down the river banks or while crossing the river and the temps were in the high 70's.

All in all, I feel the Kodiak is a great utility machine that gets the job done without working it too hard and knowing the fact that it was 2 grand cheaper then the Grizzly I feel I bought the right quad, I do miss the IRS from my old quad.

Hope this helps some.

AlaskaBoy.
