thanks for the video. can't wait for the next trip to the dunes. looks like labor day weekend for me (Friday/Saturday), not sandfest.
didn't see much video of the 1000cc running with those banshees???
the 1000cc ought to leave the line a lot faster. what swingarm do you have?
what are the stock front and rear sprocket sizes on the motorcylce the engine came out of? what size front and rear sprockets do you have on the quad?
listen to this DS650 w/4-cyl motor run: http://members.aol.com/pinktangerinee2/bombusa.mpg

i found some specs on an '89 FZR: http://ymedc.introweb.nl/de/archive/..._89PRkit.shtml
i found a dyno of a '94 FZR: http://www.jcperformance-engines.com/94yfzr1t.htm
you can use this gearing calculator: http://home.earthlink.net/~wegenka/g...calculator.htm
i calculated that the stock motorcycle redlines at about 170MPH in 5th gear, with 47/17 sprockets and 25" tire. obviously this is WAY WAY too tall for your application.
i recommend 52 rear, 15 front or shorter gearing. this will still not get you to peak-HP RPM in 3rd gear for the short races you're running. i recommend launching close to 10,000RPM, get a longer swingarm if needed.

Nice vids but I see there are a few people who don’t believe in helmets. I went ridding without my gear 1 time on the sand. Last time also. It's amazing how a 20+ft drop off the wrong side of a sand dune will convince you to wear your gear, at least a helmet. It seemed a lot bigger at the time but I'm sure it wasnt.
