Warrior 350 cutting off

Warrior 350 cutting off
I have a 97 model Warrior.
When idling everything runs fine - when we rev the engine with the throttle - it "chokes" out and cuts off.
It seems to be getting gas as it will idle for an extended period of time - although any throttle action cuts the engine.
It does this in neutral and in gear.
If anyone has any suggestions it will be greatly appreciated.
