Yamaha Warrior - HELP
[2002 Yamaha Warrior]
I have a problem! This warrior is in perfect condition, with excellent compression. However, when I put it in forward, or backward -- it will not go anywhere! No matter what gear I have it in... It starts great... ........just wont go into gear...
:-(
Any ideas on what the problem is? Thanks

Yeah, your problem discription is a bit vague.
Sounds to me though that either your clutch needs replacing or adjusting. A buddy of mine has a similar problem with his 2001. With the clutch adjusted so that the machine moves, it jumps when you put it in gear and going into and out of reverse is a pain. Getting into neutral is also troublesome ... I over adjusted his clutch to where it was shifting without much jumping and going in and out of reverse with no probs .. but then the machine wouldn't move .. LOL
Does anyone have any ideas on why the Warriors seem to be so damn hard to get into neutral when they're running hard? If I'm spinning around a sand pit and doing jumps and such if I come to a complete stop and try to shift into neutral it simply will not go. I can shut the bike off and do it easily, or shift into neutral while I'm coasting to a stop .. but doing it from a dead stop .. nuh uh ..
I don't have the same problem while trail riding though ..

Well I agree that they are a notchy tranny.
What works well is if you rock the quad back and forth with the cluth pulled in. I don't know if it's because it's an old-school design or what. But I learned the trick from a buddy who has been racing 2-wheeled MX bikes his whole life. He has to do it all the time on his MX bikes.
The Warrior is the same way. Sometimes you just can't get into neutral or reverse, so you gotta pull the clutch and literally move the quad back and forth a couple time while tapping down the gear shifter and pulling up on the shifter until you can feel it click into 1st or 2nd, then you can find neutral. It's almost like something gets jambed in there. It also helps if you find neutral before you come to a complete stop, then click it into 1st after you stop.

Yamaha Warrior - HELP
I just tried to make the clutch more tight / lose... Nothing. When I slowly put the lever (Forward/backward) I heard a much louder click. This isn't the click I was talking about.
** I had it in neutral, and just put it into gear. It jumped for a split second, but wouldnt proceed with movement. It's as if it's not catching. Keep in mind the engine was still on after it jumped.
Any ideaS? ...the dam quad wont move. :-o
