Carbs all work basicaly the same way whether on a 2 stroke or a 4 stroke but the choke size and jet size varies a lot from engine to engine, even among 2 strokes so that will be the limiting factor.

I am far from being an authority but there are a few differences. On 2 stroke the pilot screw adjusts the air flow while on 4 stroke the pilot screw adjusts the fuel flow. On 2 stroke the pilot screw is located at rear (inlet) of carb while on 4 stroke the pilot screw is located at front (outlet) of carb. The only time I have ever switched carbs from 2 to 4 stroke was when I was running a Lectron carb on KTM400 and then switched it to a Yam TT500. Was very hard to start but ran OK. When I switched to proper Mikuni the pumped TT500 finally started and ran like it should. My opinion is that it is a big waste of time and probably won't work at all.
