I asked a salesman at the loca Yamaha shop about them discontinuing the Blaster and the Banshee, and he said it won't happen, or well it will, but not anywhere near 2006 or 2007. He said that one day they will see the end of the Banshee and Blaster, just not any time soon.
It is basically that they are trying to thin out 2 stroke motors currently, like wipper-snippers, and garden type stuff first, then proceed to move on to larger two strokes. That is why you're seeing companies poping out new 4 strokes that have similar snap/power of the old 2 strokes.
Whew. Anyway, that is what I was told, he said "It's all just rumors, people believe what they want to, and let them."
I hope this helps you.

Thanks for your reply, Im hearing alot of talk about banning all 2 stroke bikes and quads in the not so distant future. Why can't Yamaha update the banshe and blaster like they update all of there four strokes I think if there not having good reveiws on the banshee and blaster is because they havent been updated for years! besides the 03 blaster with the nose job and finally adding hydro brakes since complaints from 88! Will someone complain to Yamaha to update the 2-stroke quads!

I think that it is pretty true about discontinuing the blaster and banshee. not those two quads specifically, but there will be new laws put into action controlling the amount of emitions legal from certain size two-strokes. to update the blaster and banshee would mean making them emit legal amounts of polluted fuel which would be more expensive than just coming out with a new 4-stroke quad. i believe the banshee has already been replaced by the YFZ450 and the blaster replacement may be soon to come (next couple years.) if it is true they will still be around for many years to come, just like the 250r and even longer. everyone loves the hit of a 2-stroke but it may just become extinct in future years. who knows...but all good things must come to an end...sometime.

There is a 2 stroke ban (more emissions than the general 2 stroke) going into law in 2006 that will prevent motorcycle companies from maufacturing 2 stroke machines. It's not rumor, it's fact...so yet again the dealership doesn't know what they are talking about, they are really good at that, I never listen to those guys. The Banshee has been replaced already by either the Raptor or YFZ (take your pick) and the Blaster will be replaced by 2006 by most likely a 250 4 stroke. Believe it man...it's happening wether you like it or not.
