ATV's or Politics
#1
We each reserve the right to express our opinion. I think this is a forum to discuss the sport of ATVing not politics, each of these candidates have websites of there own and many other sites dedicated to discussing the views of each candidate. Sure Gore has faults and so does Bush, Bush's stance is not as agressive as Gore's however they both believe the samething. Please realize that the president does not have complete control or any issue in this country due a system referred to as Checks and Balances. Your individual senators has an effect on such issues as well. I think people should vote for whom they chose based on a variety of facts, realizing that if Bush's is elected or Gore we are at risk of losing riding space. Further if we elect the wrong president we are at risk of not being able to afford ATV's to even ride. Vote Smart......... Know the facts. But I think this board is for ATV's not politics.

Oh my, moto4DX! You "opened the door," by discussing politics in your post, where you suggest we don't discuss politics!
I do not think political discussion framed in the context of ATVs is inappropriate for this Forum; given further Clintonism (the election of Gore), this Forum may become irrelevant, because ATVs, with their "evil" internal combustion engines, may be outlawed; certainly, there will be fewer places to ride them.
Clinton-Gore have violated our system of "checks and balances" you rightfully salute, by unilaterally bypassing those checks and balances and unilaterally creating by Executive Order "Roadless Areas," aka "Wilderness Lite," denying ALL motorized access (including road and helicopter ambulances) to millions of acres of public lands.
Clinton-Gore evades the provisions of the Wilderness Act, a law requiring discussion, debate, advice and consent of Congress, by the "Roadless Initiative" and by the creation of "National Monuments" by fiat.
Gore has publicly stated he wants to ELIMINATE the internal combustion engine (not only two-strokes!); a sentiment at odds with his family's fortune gained and stock currently held in Armand Hammer's Occidental Petroleum.
Certainly, vote for four more years of Clintonism, and the hyper-environmentalism of Al Gore if you like; however, the distinction between the parties regarding the issue interests of ATVers appears clear.
O.K., I'm through!

Apparently you haven't been around our sport very long.
Politics have a great influence on what, how, when, and where we can ride. Political issues are very real to us and we are affected every time we ride.
There was a period of about 10 years that a certain govt agency wiped out a big portion of our choices of machines that could be purchased. We are just now getting some of our choices back, and now certain individuals want to take away our places to ride.
The President (although there are checks and balances) does play a very important role in this process, have you heard of "Executive order"? He has a pretty large role in the final say whether a bill gets passed or not, and has his own agenda that he can push (esp if he has support of congress).
As you can tell I support people posting messages with politics that are pertanent and on topic. These are not messages that say don't support Gore because he is pro-choice, etc... These have been on topic messages stating facts about Gore, he is an enviromental extremist, that means he has no objectivity when looking at environmental matters, personally I don't think an extremist of any kind belongs in the White House, something about the mentality bothers me.
I think it is good that young people are getting stirred up about these issues, maybe more of us will get out and vote and actually change the direction of our current political machine. There's nothing the career politicans love more than a complacent public.
If you are a Gore supporter and don't like the anti-Gore posts here, I suggest you do not read messages that have political subjects, you'll get no love here. As for the inuendo in your message of Clinton/Gore's self proclaimed "great economy", that's a whole 'nother subject that is arguable at best when looked at deeper than surface value (but not "on topic" in this forum). Don't remind me that when we had our last great conservative President that brand new TRX250R cost about $2,500 (yep, great economy we've got now... Charge now, pay later - both parents forced to work to make ends meet, I'm gonna stop now....)

I am going to attemt to respond to you both in this post. First and foremost, I never stated that I am a supporter of Gore or Bush for that matter. I am going to make my decision based several factors including but not limited to those pertaining to ATV's, Gun Control and Land Use.
I beg to differ with your comment referring to the TRX 250R cost then vs. now. Might I remind you that in 1976 a honda civic cost 1,200 dollars in 1988 yes, that was during the Bush/Quail era this same vehicle costs in excess of $10,000. This has little to do with who holds office. Please note during Reagan-Bush Era 1986 interest rates were in excess of 15% for a home purchase, today a person can purchase a home for 7%. Sure the home cost more but that is affected by several other factors. Ecooomics plays a significant role in this. I am saying this to say your comparision shows no basis for this arguement. Currently under what you refer to as Clinton-Gore, unemployment is at is lowest in three decades, crime is at its lowest, I am more concerned with how much comes out of my check to support those not working than I am about where I can ride. I do feel Bush has some very strong ideals as does Gore. I too am happy that our youth are becoming concerned enough to express there opinions and take interest in what happens today, for it will define tomorrow. My initial posts was not to arouse any hostility, my posts was to present an objective approach to stated concerns in other related posts. As for two working parents? If we stress the importance of education and elect the goverment that will allow our children to obtain higher education we will have the society that it will be possible for one parent to stay at home, if desired.
I conclude by saying let's keep politics out of this forum if I want to discuss politics I would go to bush.com or gore.com. In this formum I would like to discuss why Yamaha is Superior and Hondas are BEST ON EARTH. BTW a dealer here in NC has a Raptor but its not for sale?

Moto4DX, you obviosly diligently watch TV to get your views. Clinton had a VERY strong economy when he took office. Before Clinton, the US Presidency actually had honor. Gore will follow the agenda Clinton setup so consider these tidbitsMr Clinton spent $$Millions to re-instate a Haitian dictator who Amnesty International has many charges of human torture and the like for. I believe about 10 US soldiers died there.
Clinton got us involved in Bosnia. Bosnia has had troubles ever since war reparations of WWI. They are a very defensible viscious country. Germany and Russia has unsuccesfully tried to invade them in the past. We have no economic concerns there. Why are we there? US soldiers have been killed here too. Did you know the Clinton bunch has allocated over $1Billion of OUR tax dollars to that effort?
Our current Government sold the timber rights to a big majority of the Northwest US to the Japanese. Why?
The current administration has exponentially spent more money on perks at the travel office than any other in history.
Every politician lies. It's possible (though unlikely) that Bush may continue taking our riding priviledges. Gore has already made those possibilities a reality with provisions in the clean air act to erradicate any motorized vehicles on Federal Land. It's pretty clear theres money to be had for doing so.
Quite a few people got $$$$big to have the worlds largest superpower intercede in a military capacity in 2 third world countrys (Haiti & Bosnia).
We spent alot of money & time during the Bush administration in Saudi Arabi. We developed some of the most sophisticated strategic missile systems just prior to that time. We even have some that have not been used (thank God). Until Clinton took office, the military was in good shape. The first thing they did was reduce military spending by an obscene amount. Minimal replacement of our defense arsenal has taken place. We could not even think of mounting Desert Storm right now.
After bailing Kuwait out, why are our crude oil prices so high? Why can't our current administration do something to "persuade" OPEC to reduce crude costs?
Why won't Gov't allow you to invest your own Social Security (under gov't auspices)$$$ (Bush has a plan to let that happen(like a 401K)..Gore is completely against it because that takes away the slush fund). The Gore way is "Let me do it for you. You are incapable of making your own choices.")
The reason the US Government has, is, and will continue to stick it to the United States people is because the vast majority doesn't have a clue. If we as ATV enthusiasts loose our priviledges to ride, we have only ourselves to blame. To think "it will never happen to me" or not know how the country is being run is foolish.
Government officials must be held accountable. Everyone just needs to pay attention, find out for yourself, and quit taking everything you hear on TV as the gospel truth. The vast majority of the news sources are very liberal and side with the Democratic way of government. You can't vote hearing one side of the story. We empower the governing officials. Use some common sense, read, and listen cautiously. The vote is a powerful thing.

Television is not my source of opinion, I studied economics as a second major, while I was in undergraduate and currently working on an MBA in Internatal Finance and Economics. Currently I am actively involved in several projects which allow me to interact with politicians and others. Bill Clinton did not have a strong economy when he took office our nation was actually in a mild recession, furthermore when was the lasted time national deficit was so low, or unemployment. Bush, hopefully is a lot better than his father but we have to make that connection as we would associating Gore with Clinton. Please do not miseducate the youth reading this post with you inaccurate information.

As for you Honda Civic analogy, tell me, what are the technological differences (not to mention creature comforts) between a 1976 Honda Civic vs 1988 Honda Civic. Then tell me the technological differences between a 1986 TRX250R vs a 2001 TRX400EX.
Crime at it's lowest???????? Give me a break. You watch too much TV...
Interest rates??? look no further than Jimmy Carter.
Please don't get me started on education.
You're concerned with how much comes out of your check to support those not working? May I ask how much have your taxes went down since the unemployment rate has been so low? Tell me also, how does raising the minimum wage affect the population as a whole? For me it was was a wage lowering, the folks at the very bottom (folks that have chosen NOT to educate themselves) got a raise, the rest of us didn't, the difference is made up in the cost of goods for all of us (a hidden tax & lame attempt at helping the poor).
I have a little clue for you here, sometimes you can't trust what Clinton or Gore tell you. Sometimes they will even "mislead" us.

Moto4DX: even though you took the time to post about keeping politics out of this forum you continue to be the worst offender when it comes to keeping the topic alive! If you will just go back to the original post you will see that these threads are about losing the " RIGHT TO RIDE " in "YOUR" national forests. The post gave one persons opinion about a way to prevent this from happening. What better place to discuss the possibility of losing ones right to ride than in an ATV forum!! Now thanks to you this thread has degenerated into the politcal squabble you did not want to happen. Make up your mind about what you really want would you please, because you are sending confusing signals! By any chance are you a Politician?

Ahhhh, this explains the liberal points of view you have been expressing (and trying to disguise?). There's none I have met more liberal than most college Professors & (some, not all) school teachers, they do a very good job at transferring that to their students.
You should know as well as anyone that the economy goes in cycles (historically) unfortunately for Bush and fortunately for Clinton, there was a (so called) mild recession during Bush's term that was well in it's (so called) rebound before Clinton took office. Then Clinton did what Clinton is good at and took credit with the backing of the mainstream media.
I live in a tourist area, in our little corner of the world we didn't see the effects of any recession, actually, those years 90-92 were when our "boom" hit, shortly after Clinton took office we experienced about 5 years of dropping tourism (not blaming that on him, there were a number of factors). What I'm getting at is if the economy were so bad during Bush, why was Branson's tourism flourishing? Tourist destinations should be the first hit by people pinching pennies shouldn't they.
What inaccurate information are you accusing of being posted?
Everyone should vote on issues important to them, personally I would like to see honor and respect returned to the Presidency, the land grab stopped, a sensible approach to protecting the environment, less govt involvement in our daily lives, less "gun control" for law abiding citizens and real punishment to the folks that are committing crimes, fewer taxes and "hidden" taxes, more sensible spending, fewer liability issues (lawyers & the court system are way outta hand), etc... Which of those does Gore support?
The reason Gore is associated with Clinton is, they exhibit the same patterns of half truths and outright lies. Inventor of the internet, discoverer of Love Canal pollution, basis for "Love Story", the procliamed "Technical Guru" that hates technology? Then he keeps trying to "reinvent" himself to appeal to us, there is something fundamentally wrong with all this.
Ever stopped to think about what happens when the King takes your guns and your land?
I still believe that topics posted on the candidates' stance on off-road issues is pertinent and ontopic in these forums.
