Wolverine front shaft boot

Wolverine front shaft boot
Well I am getting ready to head out to the ol garage and attempt to replace the right outer boot clamp on the wolverine. It has come completely loose and is getting water into the boot. I have tried a regular radiator clamp and a zip tie, but there is not enough clearance to work without it tearing off. Yamaha's lovely idea was to put a clamp on that would require the whole shaft to be taken out for replacement of something that would otherwise have taken ten minutes. How hard is this to get apart and does it require any special tools? If anyone has any experience please let me know. Thanks

I think I'm going to try some safety wire, twist then fold it. Hopefully the wire will not cut my boot. I was looking at the joint in the boot on the fiche and it looks like a pain in the buttocks to remove and it's around three hundred greenbacks if I break it. K.I.S.S. = Keep It Simple Stupid Oh well cross my fingers

I had the same problem. Snip the old band and replace it with a new band. The only thing is you will need a small banding tool. If you don't have one, try to borrow one. It's easy if you get the bander. The wire may work. I had mine wired for awhile and it held ok . If you start getting sand and water in that CV joint it could get expensive down the road.
