The bruin is a great bike. So far they have been reliable, durable bikes using proven yamaha components of the past. Mine has been ridden everyday without a glitch. It is an awsome woods bike but does not fit the bill for either sport or utility. For just a few hundred dollars more I would consider the suzuki Eiger. The Yamaha and suzuki share very similar belt drive systems, both being the best in the market. But the Eiger is quicker, faster, smoother, more comfortable at speed, more stable, less tippy when cornering better rear suspension. Unlike the bruin, has low range which anything labeled as utility should have. For towing the bruin is speced at 33 lbs of tongue weight vs the Eiger at three times that much. The Eiger also has an instrument cluster with a speedometer that the bruin also lacks. The seat of the Eiger is a little longer which accomadates two in comfort for that occasional two-up riding. If your one of those guys that cant resist a mudhole, the Eiger has enough power to accomodate larger tires, has low range and the detroit gearless locker is available for the Eiger for true 4wd instead of three. I got a good deal on a slightly used bruin, the guy wanted to get rid of it for the reasons listed above. I dont regreat buying it bacause it was a good deal and am planning on running it for years to come. The Eiger has much more to offer as an entry level bike for a few hundred more, $4750 out the door. Top speed on my Bruin is 47-48 mph. As for mud, it does as good as any SRA, 3wd bike with cheesy tires.
