Default Riding Without Heel Guards

Today at the track I noticed almost no one ran heel guards, and I have a set of nerfs on order but they will be backordered until Nov. 10 because I got the heel guard version. So my question is, would it be a hazard to ride with just regular nerfs and no heel guards?

Alot of people dont like the look of heelguards and dont use stock ones. Most pro riders dont use aftermarket heelguards, they get pro pegs like AC (new style) and X-factors.

Yeah and after I thought about it, it would be hard to get a size 13 MX boot in between the plastic and rear tires..

Personaly if a tiny bit of wieght isn't a hugh factor I would run the gaurds.
They help with the broken ankle factor along with keeping dirt / mud off of you.........

I've never ran heel guards, they look ugly, and have no use for me.

But if you have a bigger size boot than 10, You boot will get stuck between the peg and heel guard. An expensive setup but good is ac std nerfs, ims pegs, and ims heelguards

Ya I know, thats why I said expensive set up. Almost all pro pegs, your boot will stick to it and wont slide off behind it. You could get the setup for around $350 for AC std nerfs and IMS pegs, or get X-factor pegs for around $250. But if you get IMS pegs you can add heelgaurds later.
